Disabled Street Dogs

GIVING THEM A FUTURE, SEE HOW HAPPY THEY ARE NOW…

As well as all the other horrible things the street dogs have to contend with, one of the biggest dangers for them is traffic injury

With cars, lorries, motor bikes and tuk-tuks zooming along the streets with no care for the animals in front of them, many are mown down and left to die slowly in the street suffering limb, spinal injuries or death.

The survivors that we become aware of and rescue are treated by our vets and then spend time in our recovery/rehabilitation area before they join the rest of our disabled family in the segregated disabled dog zone so they can roam, free from interference from the healthier and sometimes exuberant dogs.
This is a unique quality of the charity. Disabled dogs would never be given the chance of life anywhere else in Sri Lanka like they are here at Animal SOS .

They are often fitted with disabled carts which as you can see in the video allows them to run around, play and have fun.

Can you imagine what it must be like to live on the streets which is bad enough but to be disabled as well is unthinkable.

We are unique in our rescue and care of disabled street dogs, being disabled does not mean that they are no longer sentient beings with emotions and value, with us their personalities shine and they get to live a happy life.
